The Nissan Brand Shows off Impressive Tech in the Nissan IMx
It is currently auto show season, but recently the automotive industry has gone to other showcases across the country to show off new and up coming car technology. Case in point, at last month’s Consumer Electronics Show, the Nissan brand touted its futuristic Nissan IMx concept. This new compact crossover shows where Nissan cars are going in the future. And we at Mentor Nissan are excited to share the details of the Nissan IMx.
The Nisan IMx offers both the seating space and room for cargo like models such as the 2018 Nissan Rouge, but the exterior of the vehicle has a much sleeker, futuristic look. The concept car is powered by two electric motors, and it delivers an output of 430 horsepower and 516 lb-ft of torque. This car offers all the advantages of being eco-friendly while still providing power that make it anything but boring to drive.
When driving an electric car, the worry shifts to driving range, and most of the time with good reason. That is no worry for the Nissan IMx, though. With it’s dual electric motors and advanced battery pack, a range of more than 370 miles is expected.
One Nissan executive revealed that the production version of the Nissan IMx could be built on a “bespoke platform,” which means that it will have unique underpinnings that set this vehicle apart from other Nissan SUVs. In one exceptionally cool feature, the Nissan IMx doesn’t have actual door handles—mounted cameras will scan the driver’s face as he/she approaches, leverage facial-recognition to confirm identity, then automatically open the door.
We can’t wait to see this crossover in action and will keep you updated on any other new innovative car tech that the Nissan brand has in the works. In the meantime, stop by our new car dealership serving Painesville, OH to check our great lineup of new and pre-owned vehicles.
