Nissan Altima Warning Lights Explained

Although the owner’s manual for a vehicle is something that is important to go over, Mentor Nissan understands that some of our clients do not have the time to go through the owner’s manual cover to cover. Our Nissan dealers at our pre-owned and new Nissan dealership want drivers to be knowledgeable of all of the possible warning lights that may appear on your dashboard. We have compiled some of the more important or notable warning lights you may notice on the dashboard of a vehicle, such as the Nissan Altima and gave a short breakdown of what they mean below. ABS or Anti-Lock Disc Brakes Light- If you are driving your Nissan Altima and you happen to be on a surface that is prone to skidding, then your vehicle may enable the anti-lock disc brakes on its own. This is a safety system that enables your vehicle to maintain traction on the surface to avoid skidding. If your vehicle does go into anti-lock disc braking mode then you will see the letters ABS appear on your dashboard. Seat belt Warning - Your Nissan Altima will ensure safety by alerting you with a warning light if the driver and/or passengers are not wearing their seat belts when the vehicle is put in drive. If this occurs, then your vehicle will enable a light that has an image of a person with a seat belt across them. When this happens make sure everyone has on their seat belt before continuing to drive. Low Tire Pressure Warning - When you see a light on your dashboard that features an exclamation point inside of partially opened circle, then that means you need to check the tire pressure in your vehicle because it could be low. To fix this just simply fill up your tires at by coming to our Mentor Nissan service center. To find out more about your vehicle’s warning lights, give our expert technicians a call at Mentor Nissan.
